'I work in an eclectic mix of styles and enjoying experimenting with 'throw away' materials such as paper/wire/plastic. My background is in Art and Design, but I am now veering towards textiles and photography, combining the two in a colourful mix. I will be showing a diverse range of work which I hope will intrigue the viewer.'
Horticap is a charity based garden centre and nursery for adults with learning difficulties in Harrogate. Adjacent to our shop we have a small space which is now being used to exhibit art work from guest artists. A different artist will be showing their work each month and it is free of charge to view. Why not come along and have a leisurley wander round the art work, our gardens and shop and stop for a cup of tea or coffee. We are open 7 days a week 10am-4pm. We look forward to seeing you.

Throughout the year the students have been involved in a weekly art workshop run by Carol Sowden. They have been encouraged to express themselves through different mediums to visualise the place and space they feel the most happiest. Giving them this opportunity has helped them visualise their thoughts through the creativity of mark making in the broadest sense. Being a part of the group has helped many students develop their own artistic talents as well as their skills of communication and group involvement.
A show of their work will be available to view from the 1st-30th June.

'Living near Roundhay Park
offers constant inspiration and I particularly enjoy aiming to capture the
beauty of Beech trees. I love their
sculptural qualities and variegated textures and colours. Favourite painters of the moment are Hashim
Akib and Chris Forsey who both use really vibrant colours and bold
brushwork. I work in acrylics because I’m impatient and appreciate their quick drying ability and
forgiving nature'.

'I am a painter and filmmaker and trained in Fine Art at Liverpool and Leeds Polytechnics in the 1980s. My paintings include oil and watercolour landscapes, war paintings and abstracts. In June 2012 I won the Hot Bed Print Prize at the Salford Open Exhibition. My animation films have been shown around the world and won several awards, including the Gold Plaque at Chicago International Film Festival'.
'My work is abstract and
inspired by my surroundings, colour and basic pattern. I source these through
meditative and visionary techniques as well as patterns seen in nature. I also
use free form, almost subconscious methods. These processes produce unique pieces with a personal
outlook and are often expressive of a certain energy/feeling which I think have
a universality that others can relate to. It is a result of my background in the Biological
Sciences and Psychology as well as observations on life and how many things in
nature mirror/represent the human ‘condition’'.
